Cuba continues to make disciples.
Dear Friends, I “just blew in from Cuba” a day ahead of Hurricane Irma. Last February I spent most of my time in the east doing more training with more new churches. In one city I trained 4 churches. The largest church has a membership of 500, and the others ranged from 50 to 150. Our Cuban director, Jose, reported that there have been 110 baptisms in the last 6 months in 4 churches in one town. One church alone had 65 baptisms! Many churches are enjoying the increase in membership and baptisms because of our Global Church Growth materials and system that our ministry provided from them for free. Since last June there are approximately 450 new baptized disciples nationwide. I am amazed and humbled by the magnitude of growth and success taking place through the Holy Spirit and our efforts. Thank you for your prayers, personal encouragement and financial support.
Take a close look at the excited face of my new brother in Christ. He whooped and hollered praising the Lord. He said that after he studied my evangelistic book he wanted me to baptize him. I only will baptize if the minister will do it with me. He will continue to disciple, not me. We baptized 4 more that day. As we were leaving our training session three men passed us on bicycles. They had traveled 15 miles to get to us to be baptized. God is working.
Another milestone was when I gave the money to buy the property for the first church building being built since 1962. Please pray that there will be no hindrances to finish the project. I began this report while I was still in Cuba last week. One of my directors wrote me that the city where the church will be built was the worst place hit by hurricane Irma. And very sad news of the death of another new brother who was just baptized. We never know, so it is true that today is the best day to follow Jesus.
Global Church Growth reaches out to the Haitian ministry.
Kissimmee Christian church is a faithful supporter of our ministry. I had the privilege to have my first training with their Intercultural Haitian ministry the Sunday before I left for this Cuba trip. The French and Creole editions of my first two books are about finished. I am making plans to go to Haiti this next year. This is why this training is so important. By working with the church I can learn more about the culture before I go. I have learned there are a lot of Haitians in the Orlando and Miami area. It was so exciting to see the response the brothers and sisters had for making disciples.
L.A.T.M helps Global Church Growth
LATM out of Joplin, MO has turned out to be a great resource and partner with us at Global Church Growth. Their ministry helps thousands by providing funds to print material to advance the gospel. With their help we are able to print three books for Cuba. One will be 13 lessons in Christian doctrine and then my student and leaders books of “Aventura in Disipulado” (A walk in Discipleship). The picture is of our first books translated and printed in India. Again, LATM paid for the translation and printing of this project. My plans, Lord willing, are to go next year to India to train these preachers how to make disciples.
Plans for rest of year!!!
God willing I will be working with David Bayless in Belem, Brazil October 10 to 25, then the ICOM in Peoria, Illinois in November, and then Jacque and I will return to Cuba November 28 to December 12. Please keep us in your prayers.
